Patrícia Koyšová is one of the few woman artists in Slovakia whose artistic program is fully devoted, without significant detours, to abstract painting. The initial impulse came not from running through all attempts at realist painting – rather it resulted from a systematic process originating as an antithesis to figurative art, with its undesirable influence of the everyday visual smog that screeches from advertising, news, and social networks. The artist’s program has evolved continuously since her studies at the 4th studio of Bratislava’s Academy of Fine Arts and Design, where she completed master’s and later doctoral degrees. The liberated atmosphere in Ivan Csudai’s studio, and the positive approach to using digital media and non-traditional technologies in the context of contemporary painting, opened the door for her to the world of trial, error, and process experimenting.
